Solar PV

A solar panel-only installation entails the setup of photovoltaic (PV) panels without additional components like battery storage. These panels capture sunlight and convert it directly into electricity, providing a clean and renewable energy source for homes and businesses.

One of the primary benefits of a solar panel-only installation is its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. Without the added expense of batteries, this option offers a straightforward approach to harnessing solar energy.

Overall, while solar panel-only installations offer a sustainable and cost-effective means of generating electricity, they may not provide the same level of energy independence, reliability, and flexibility as systems with battery storage or backup capabilities. There is no VAT payable on solar PV installations.

Solar PV + Battery Storage

Solar panels combined with battery storage offer a dynamic solution for harnessing renewable energy and optimising its utilisation. This innovative pairing allows users to capture sunlight during the day, converting it into electricity through solar panels.

Excess energy generated can then be stored in batteries for use during periods of low sunlight or peak demand times. By storing surplus energy for later consumption, homeowners can maximise their self-consumption of solar power, reducing reliance on expensive grid electricity and even potentially earning credits through grid-tied systems.

With the ability to store and manage energy efficiently, solar panels coupled with battery storage stand as the most advantageous option for those seeking sustainable energy solutions while minimising reliance on traditional power sources. There is no VAT payable on solar PV + battery storage installations.

Battery Storage

Battery storage will store green energy for later use in your home. So, you can run your home on low-cost battery power, rather than drawing from the grid during peak hours. In homes with renewables, the battery will take its charge from the available renewable source. (Typically solar, though some homes use wind or hydro turbines.) But what happens if your home doesn’t have renewables for the battery to take its charge from?

In this case, the battery will simply charge from the grid when the cheapest, cleanest energy is flowing through the wires. So, the battery will charge when energy costs are low (usually overnight). Then, it will discharge when energy costs are high – saving you money, and reducing the demand on the grid. This process is called “load shifting”. The home battery storage without solar works to shift peak energy into the cheaper off peak period. Or, rather, to allow you to use energy during peak times – without paying peak charges.

There is no VAT payable on battery storage installations regardless of whether you are adding battery storage to an existing solar PV installation or having standalone battery storage installed.

We can supply and install EV charge points from a variety of different manufacturers, we advise on what would work best for your needs. Some energy suppliers offer heavily discounted charging rates for charges that work with their network to utilise excess energy during certain off peak times.

Where the user has solar we can use a manufacturer's equipment that can charge your vehicle utilising excess solar energy generated from your system.
